2012 Doomsday Lucky Numbers

Do you believe in luck? Do you believe in the collective unconscious? Do you believe that the prayers, fears, wishes and hopes of a billion people can have influence over the earth, the seas or the firmament?
I don’t particularly believe in these things, but just in case. There ought to be a way to squeeze some lucky numbers out of that 21 December 2012 Mayan disaster thingy. All that energy focused on a single date has to go somewhere.
Let’s dispense with the obvious first 12/21/2012. A zero and a bunch of ones and twos. Add adjacent numbers and you get a bunch of threes and one two.
If you write the date as 12-21-12 and add all the number up you get 9. If you take 12/21/2012 and add all the numbers up you get 11. Add the two ones and you get the two again.
So it would appear that your lucky doomsday number is 2. Wear it in good health!
You say that’s not good enough. You say you need at least 6 numbers to enter the lotto? Let’s review then. Out of all the numbers we have looked at the sequence is looking like 1-2-3-9-11-12. There you have it. The cool thing about this series is that if you add it all up you get 38. Add that up and you get 11. Add that up and you get 2 once again. Looks like doomsday wants you to bet on the number two in the worst way!
If that 6 number sequence doesn’t float your boat, there are some others that are readily available from doomsday: 1-2-3-12-20-21 comes to mind.
Is there any more good fortune we can squeeze out of all of the bad juju flying around about? Well in past doomsday panics, some of the true believers gave away all their worldly possessions. So if you got some Nimrod who did not learn his lesson when Harold Camping predicted the end of the world as we know it—three different times…Then maybe you can take the extra stuff off the true believer’s hands. On December 22, 2012 you can even give some of his stuff back—for a fee.
There are others who have come up with even more elaborate schemes to make money off of the coming apocalypse. They are selling shelters. So if you are a good salesman, perhaps you can sell some folks fallout shelters or storm shelters or shelters from whatever they think is going to befall the earth.
Now if your frightened friends believe that Planet X is going to smash into the earth there may be nothing short of a spaceship escape pod needed to save them. Those are in short supply and besides you plan to use yours—right?
