It Sucks! National Lollipop Day!

Suck on this: It's national Lollipop Day. And as luck with have it, sugar on a stick has an apocryphal history. Like anything sweet and very bad for you, more than one person claims to have invented it but there is supposedly only one patent on the name. One George Smith claimed to have named sugar on a stick after a horse. However some point out that lolly means tongue and that writers years before spoke of something like stick candy.
