Canadian Militant?

I was confused the other day when I came across a story that contained the term "Canadian Militant". Isn't that an oxymoron? You can't have a militant Canadian can you?


And then I read further and saw that the story was about religious militants who happen to be Canadian. Well that explains it.


Come to think of it aren't those French speaking Canadians kinda prickly too?
