Skyscrapers from Hell!
January 12th 2012 02:06
There is a story in the Bible about people trying to build a stairway to heaven. God was apparently offended by this behavior and thus confounded language and made us all speak in different tongues. Thus we have the notion of a Tower of Babel.
According to BBC News, the curse of building a monument to yourself is still in effect. The BBC sites a study showing a close relationship between building the world's tallest buildings and financial ruin.
In our present day it is very easy to see that visibly and ostentatiously overextending yourself might spell financial doom.
Pride goeth before a fall. It is also said: The wicked flee when no man pursueth. If you think of the wall street thieves and robber barons trying to flee up into thin air, it puts a different perspective on things. That was not the out dude. Unless you were making a tall building to leap from.
Trying to hide from an impending financial crisis?
