Tony Romo is Not a 4th Quarter Back
September 12th 2011 23:36
Let's face it, Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys is not a 4th Quarter quarterback. He seems to get mentally and physically tired by the 4th quarter. When he gets mentally tired he starts to press. When he gets physically tired the physical gifts that were so apparent in the first quarter seem to desert him.
It's too bad that football can't be a little more like baseball. Jason would come out, take the football in the 4th quarter and call the old standby to the field. He would say just one thing to the 2nd stringer: Don't lose this old man. Tony already won it.
Barring that Jason Garrett should take Tony Romo aside during the 4th quarter the first time he does a tired head mistake and tell him: You can lose this game if you want to. Do you want to? If not, stop pressing. Protect the ball. You got us this far. Let the defense take us the rest of the way.
If Garrett won't tell Tony to stop pressing at the first sign of a 4th quarter mistake, Witten ought to. What are friends for?
