Environmental Lies
I was talking with a friend the other day and she mentioned drinking bottled water at work. I knew her to be a mildly environmentally conscious person so I wondered why she was engaged in such an obvious oversight.
The reasons she and her office mates were using those little store-bought plastic bottles of water was convenience.
1) It was that or tap water
2) Even if they used one of those filter pitchers or if they attached a filter to the tap, the sink was too far away from their desks
3) Besides, it was a small aberration. What would it hurt?
Since Global Warming is a fraud and Climate Change is a hoax it would hurt nothing. But even if these Marxist plots to destroy the American economic system were real phenomena, nothing we do here in the West would affect anthropogenic Climate Change. There are billions in India and China who swamp anything we do to the atmosphere every day. Those who say that is not so have revealed themselves either to being communists who want to destroy America or idiots who don’t know what you get when you add one billion plus one billion.
But for argument’s sake, lets say we buy the lie. Then why all he excuses when it comes time to make an inconvenient choice?
1) If the sink is far enough then walking to the sink is good exercise for you. Office drones need more exercise!
2) Even with Global Hoaxing or Climate Fraud, bottle water is often just bottled tap water and besides, introducing plastic from the bottle into your body can’t be good for you.
3) Bring in water in a metal thermos from home if you have to.
Somewhere, deep down inside, we know that environmental radicalism is a giant fraud. At best it’s a form of national auto eroticism. Remember when the great environmental guru Al Gore refused to give up meat to save the planet? Clearly the whole movement is BS.
We go around making our selves feel good about “making a difference.”
When my friend talks about the new car she is going to buy for herself, she talks about buying something she would look cute driving around. When I mention an electric car she frowns and says there are not enough of them to choose from. They are too hard to buy and too difficult to maintain.
Notice that whenever we have a hard choice between convenience and environmental sacrifice, all the normal people choose convenience. Yes, I know if you are one of the world’s biggest A-holes you choose the environment (no wonder nobody likes you). Normal people almost never choose to sacrifice for green weeniedom.
There are cities in the world where gasoline powered motorcycles are banned. So everyone rides electric motor scooters and electric bicycles. Why don’t we voluntarily do that in the US? Why aren’t all the college campuses and even high schools crammed with non-polluting electric scooters ? Because it’s not cool. We are not in to it. It’s not hip.
Because when you really come down to it, we don’t really believe. We know in our hearts that radical environmentalism is really just a political cudgel that liberal democrats use to pummel conservative republicans. Who can take that seriously?
So we are okay with pretending to be environmentally conscious once in a while–you know, talking a good game. Just as long as we can still buy our gas guzzlers when we want.
The problem is that some time, in the not too distant future, proclamations by people like then senator Obama that he wanted to make the price of fossil fuels skyrocket will catch up to our wishful thinking society. On that day, you will not be able to buy and drive what you want. Sooner or later Americans will figure out that we have indulged the lies and self delusions of enviro-crats long enough. We can no longer afford their blame-America-first environmental policies. But by then, it may be too late. Because what the left is doing today is laying the trap of legalism. By the time you find out that you can no longer live the good life as you please, the democrats will have made it illegal for you to live any other way than their Green Marxist way. That is their long-term plan. Welcome to slavery comrade.
